The original refractor of Kenwood Observatory was built by the Warner & Swasey Company of Cleveland, Ohio, and carried a 12.2-inch, f/17.9, flint-forward, visually-corrected achromatic objective. The optical design was by Professor Charles S. Hastings, and the optical fabrication was by the John A. Brashear Company of Pennsylvania. This equatorial was refurbished in the late 1920s by Fecker to carry a new double-barrel aluminum tube assembly for the original 12-inch visual and photographic objectives. The mounting exists today in substantially modified form carrying a Schmidt camera in the South Building at Yerkes Observatory.
